Description
Valya Merezhko, a courageous partisan courier, heads into the city to contact the underground. Her liaison is Stepan – a man she loved before the war cast its long shadow. Summer 1943. Masha, a stunningly beautiful intelligence officer from the mainland, arrives in the partisan detachment for a crucial mission. Valya, through Stepan, connects Masha with the underground. A gnawing jealousy eats at Valya; she suspects Stepan might be falling for Masha. Driven by unbearable pangs of love and betrayal, Valya slips into the city one day and stumbles upon Stepan and Masha's wedding. Unbeknownst to her, the wedding is a daring partisan ruse – a brilliant feint to illuminate the railway station, providing a vital target for Soviet bombers.
