Description
Andrei Kachura, a police officer, lives and works in the Belarusian village of Zarechye. Nastya Beletskaya, a woman he once harbored feelings for, returns after a long absence. Kachura witnesses two unidentified men forcing Nastya into a car; she cries out for help. He gives chase, and the kidnappers throw Nastya out of the moving vehicle. She's unable to explain who wanted to abduct her or why. Meanwhile, the remains of two young women are discovered in the woods near Zarechye. They are found to be infected with an unknown disease, launching a major investigation. Further complicating matters, Lyuba, a local shop assistant, is murdered. Adding to the already volatile situation, Nikita Kryakhin, an FSB agent from Russia, arrives in Zarechye. His methods and behavior shock Kachura, throwing the investigation into further turmoil.
