Description
The system administrator manages to prove his innocence. A new clue—a scrap of paper bearing the letter “Я” (hinting at the murderer’s name?)—casts suspicion on both the head of security, Yakov Zotov, and the accountant, Vera Yartseva. During her interrogation, Yartseva reveals that Berger was poisoned by a contact toxin applied to his telephone handset. Merkoulova becomes convinced that the killer—who called the victim from a disposable phone—is among those present.
